Statement on Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Passing the Senate

Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. Senate passed the bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill after weeks of negotiations. Battle Born Collective Senior Advisor Tré Easton released the following statement in response:

“Today’s bill passage makes something abundantly clear: when the president wants it done, it gets done. The White House has been aggressively mobilized and focused on securing this modest legislative victory—holding over 330 meetings and calls with members of Congress on infrastructure in the month of June alone.

“We need to see that same mobilization and commitment to protecting voting rights, raising the minimum wage, safeguarding access to reproductive health care, curbing gun violence, reforming public safety, and so much more. These are things Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress campaigned on and were elected to deliver.

“President Biden told us he could make Congress work. Millions of voters believed him. If that prospect begins and ends with infrastructure, then this administration and the Democratic majority in Congress are in for a nasty surprise at the ballot box next November.”
